What to Wear in the UAE - Dress Code

We, UAE nationals wear traditional attire known as kandora or dishdasha. Many Muslim expats will wear the traditional clothing of their native country. Many Muslim women will cover their hair with a scarf and wear a long, black robe over their clothing called an abaya.

An advisable clothing guidelines for expatriates is as the following :

Wearing a shirt in public for men
Preferable for women to conceal their shoulders, by wearing long or short-sleeves, and wear either loose fitting slacks, or long skirts or dresses.
Wearing cotton or linen dresses, tops, skirts and avoid exposing knees or have low-cut necklines.
Shorts above the knees are generally not acceptable for men or women.
